December always makes me think of winter, but today, I heard a very different “winter” tale. We have a wonderful book in our library called Winter’s Tail: How One Little Dolphin Learned to Swim Again. It is the story of a dolphin named Winter who lost her tail when she got caught in a crab trap in the ocean. Some scientists developed a new tale for Winter so that she could live and grow to become an adult dolphin! This is such an amazing story. If you love books about animals, you’ve got to check out Winter’s Tail from our library media center.
There is a great website that goes along with the book. It has pictures, videos, and activities all about Winter. Take some time to explore the website.
Don’t forget to let me know what you think of the book if you read it, and let me know what you think of the website.
Your library lady,
Mrs. Matzat

Welcome back to school, Branson Elementary West students and parents! It’s been a while since I’ve posted on our blog, but now it’s time to get things going again. I wanted to share an exciting new book series with you that was just released today. It is called 39 Clues, and it is a new kind of reading adventure. The story is a mystery that you, as the reader, actually try to solve. Reading the books will help you solve the clues, but there is also an exciting online game and trading cards that give you additional information. There are even real prizes being given away, including a $10,000 grand prize! I can’t wait to read the first book, The Maze of Bones. It’s written by Rick Riordan, the Mark Twain Award winning author of The Lightning Thief. You can learn more about 39 Clues by going to their website at
