Lina and Doon have found the way out of Ember!  Now they are in trouble, and need to leave right away, but Lina doesn’t want to leave Poppy.  Doon says they have no choice.  What would you do if you were Lina?  Would you leave your family behind to save yourself, or would you stay and face the guards?  Be sure to tell me why you would choose to stay or go.

The city of Ember is a strange place.  Things are old and worn, store rooms are running out of supplies, but you know that in the past they have had things like we do today.  My question for today is about the setting of the book.  Do you think that Ember is in the past, or the future?  Think about all of the things we have heard about in the book, and be sure to support your answer with at least one detail from the story.

Today we read about how Lizzie and Looper are taking things from the store rooms and keeping it for themselves.  Lina thinks that Lizzie and Looper are wrong for keeping it a secret, and wants them to share what they have found with everyone.  Lizzie says there is no way to share those few items with everyone, and so they might as well keep them.  What do you think?  Who is right, Lina or Lizzie?  Tell me what you think, and be sure to tell me why you think that way.

I know it has been rainy and cold lately, so I thought that we could try to help Fall come back for awhile by writing about it!  Every September I wait for this certain place on my drive to work to start showing the fall colors.  When I see those leaves turning fiery red and orange, I know Fall has arrived.  Football games, cold noses, hot chocolate, rolling in the leaves with my son…I just LOVE FALL!  So give me your Top 10 things you love about Fall. Maybe the sun will come out, and give us a few more weeks of fun before the winter

We have been in school for a few weeks now, and I want to know how you like 3rd grade so far.  Please write here and tell me one of your favorite things about 3rd grade, and then tell my why that is your favorite.  Be sure to tell me why, and try to use super sentences with capital letters and end marks!
