Celebrate Literacy and Field Day will be on May 15. Students need to come to school wearing sunscreen and bring a sack lunch. Students cannot share sunscreen they must provide their own.

Hooray For Reading Day is May 18! Students will be allowed to bring a pillow and snacks for the day.

The end of year party is on May 21. Lunch will be provided.

It’s that time of year, MAP testing. Please make sure your student is in attendance the next two weeks of school, is eating a healthy breakfast each morning, and is getting enough sleep.

For a MAP testing schedule please refer to the newsletter that went home the last two weeks or access it on this site on the parent page.

March and April book orders were sent home today. Please send book orders to school by April 5th.

Spring pictures were sent home today as well. If you would like to purchase the pictures send the money to school. If you would not like to purchase the pictures just return the package.

If you haven’t sent a dollar to school for the field trip please do so by Tuesday, March 27.

Next week is Spring Break, the only homework will be a reading log. This log is a little different and will be due the Monday we return from break.

Our class is rescheduled to attend the book fair on Friday, March 2 @ 1 p.m.

You are more than welcome to join us then!

Your student will now be able to access their science and math book online! On Monday each student will receive their own unique username and password! Links to the textbooks can be found on the science and math pages.

I hope you had a wonderful holiday with your family.

A couple of things to note:

1. Grades for 2nd quarter and semester will be sent home Friday, Jan. 6
2. The weekly work page has been completely updated-check it out
3. Quarter 3 requirements for Communication Arts will be sent home in Friday folders. Your student will also have a copy to keep at school.
4. The Communication Arts Page on my website also has a copy of the requirements plus a timeline for projects and class literature sets.

Fantasy Projects are now due the Tuesday following Thanksgiving Break. Students will be given significant time to work on it in class before break.

Social Studies will be having a test this Tuesday. Students need to be studying their states and capitals of the Southeast Region. There will be an in class review on Monday.

Mid Quarter Grades will be sent home on Tuesday. Call or email me if you have any questions.

The first round of due dates for communication arts are quickly approaching. Their first writing piece will be turned in this Friday, October 28. Their first book and letter should be turned in next Friday, November 4. Students will have their next book choice approved by me next week, so if they finish early they can get started. Please encourage your student to make the best use of class time so that these dates don’t sneak up on them in the future:)
